After Brett Mosiman bought the the building, he renamed it to the Bottleneck because of the extensive varieties of beer sold there. The Bottleneck began with regular open mic nights but quickly advanced to one of the most recognized concert venues in the Lawrence area. Some recognizable bands seen there include Weezer, Foo Fighters, Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead, Marilyn Manson, the Goo Goo Dolls and many more.
